Test Overview

How will the question be served?

In the listening test of IELTS, you will listen to four recordings of native English speakers which will be played once only. A variety of accents are represented, including British, Australian, New Zealand, American, and Canadian.

  • ● Recording 1: a dialogue between two persons that takes place in a typical social setting.
  • ● Recording 2: a monologue that is presented in a typical social setting, such as a speech advertising neighborhood amenities.
  • ● Recording 3: a conversation between two to four persons taking place in an educational or training situation, such as a university tutor and a student talking about an assignment, is captured.
  • ● Recording 4: contains a monologue about a scholarly topic, such as a university lecture.

How to answer the listening IELTS test?

  • ● You have to type down your answer based on what you listened
  • ● When you write responses on the answer sheet, be careful because poor spelling and grammar will result in penalties.

How is the test marked?

Each question is worth 1 mark.

Method of determining where the ancestors of turtles and tortoises come from

Step 1
71 species of living turtles and tortoises were examined and a total of 34 were taken from the bones of their forelimbs.
Step 2
The data were recorded on a 35 (necessary for comparing the information).

Sentence Completion

Definition

This type of question falls under the category of gap-fill questions, requiring you to listen to the audio and complete the phrases by adding the missing words. You will frequently need to finish the sentence's ending, but you could also need to complete phrases' individual words. If you write more words than required, you will be penalized. For each assignment, the word count is either one, two, or three (you should carefully check this; the limit is one, two, or three). Contracted words won't be put to the test. While words with hyphens count as separate words.
